Skype Brings A Real-Time Code Editor for Coding Interviews

Writing code in an online interview is a long time process as coding is a slow process. Switching between call and code editor can be a pain for both interviewers and candidates. It won’t be wrong to say that Microsoft’s Skype is one of the most popular video calling service used by many companies for interviews.

Microsoft has previewed a new web-based feature that allows users to combine video calling and code editor. And the best part for users, This new feature doesn’t require any software installation.

Skype online code editor

The editor currently supports seven most popular programming languages including Java, Javascript, C, C++, C#, Python, and Ruby. The editor also supports syntax highlighting to help prevent mistakes during an interview.

Skype’s online code editor works with both Microsoft Edge or Chrome browser (version 32 or above). Users will have to set English a the default language of the browser to use it.


To use this feature user will have to visit and click “Start interview.” By doing so, a unique link will be generated that user can share with another participant to start the interview.

The feature can be really helpful people because these days almost all tech companies are doing interviews by using video calling.
